NBL24 Grassroots Game

Marymede Flames Basketball Club is excited to announce that the Melbourne United Grassroots Game will be going ahead again in the 23-24 NBL Season on Sunday 8thOctober!
To make the day a memorable one, we would love for Marymede Flames Basketball Club to be a part of the day!

​We are looking forward to seeing you all at the game with your teams, families, and friends to enjoy an amazing day out! There will be plenty on offer for the whole family including activities, giveaways, face painting and plenty more at John Caine Arena prior to the game.
Marymede Flames Basketball Club family and friends can purchase tickets at the discounted rate.
 
PLUS: all Flames members who wear their club jersey will be invited to an exclusive post-game signing session with Melbourne United players!

Junior Domestic Player Registration DVBA Spring 2023

Welcome to the Marymede Flames Junior Domestic program.
Our organisation is composed of volunteers who are committed to teaching the skills of basketball to children while ensuring a safe and fun atmosphere and helping every player achieve individual levels of success.

It is important that when registering that you first set up a PlayHQ account as a parent, you will then register your children as dependents under your own account.

If a PlayHQ Profile Account has already been set up for registration from previous season or to another basketball competition (e.g., Rep basketball) then the same PlayHQ Profile Account should be used for this and all other registrations using PlayHQ. 

By registering you acknowledge you understand your obligations and will abide by the Code of Conduct.

Got a child or know someone who is keen to start basketball but wants to learn some fundamentals first?

This is the program for them!  

Biddy ball provides an awesome opportunity for kids to experience basketball by learning skills in a fun and exciting way fully supported by our coaches.

This program is in readiness for the upcoming Diamond Valley season however any interested child can participate.

19/10 Wednesday from 7.30-9.00pm. Flames AGM @ Marymede Fitness Centre. The committee would love you to come and be part of helping to build opportunities for our Flames families and kids.
TBC 26/10, 02/11, 09/11 Wednesday from 5.30-6.30pm. Biddyball program @ Marymede Fitness Centre. Please hold this date for now as we are working with our committee team to confirm availability.

Coach the Coaches Sessions ​

​We are pleased to announce Marymede Flames Basketball Club has gained the services of Shannon Bodley once again for our “Coach the Coaches Sessions". 

These sessions will be held on the 16/3 and 23/3 at the Marymede fitness centre commencing at 6:30pm.

We will have some of our athletes on court to help demonstrate the drills/skills that Shannon will showcase. 

We would like to think that all coaches will make the effort to attend these sessions as the club is putting these on as an investment to your development as a coach and you could return the favour by attending.

Flames AGM 16th December
Happy New Year and I hope everyone had an amazing break/time off with your family and love ones.

Just wanting to give you an update with our club. 
  • We held our AGM on the 16th Dec and most of the current 2021 members were re-elected for 2022.
  • Refer to the below 2022 committee members for your reference. 
  • Thank you to my executive team and committee members for volunteering for another year! Your continued support is greatly appreciated 🙂

  • I am pleased to confirm some new members in our club. Please assist me in welcoming Ash Hammond (director of coaching Girls), Jarrod Taylor (director of coaching Boys) and Paulo De Silva (website coordinator). I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Daniel, Johnny and Sally for their endless support and enormous hours that they have provided to our club. 
  • We still have vacant spots to fill in the age group coordinator role. 

  • Resumption of training and basketball game day. 
  • Just a reminder that training recommence this week WC 31/1. You should have received a message from your TM by now. Should there be last minute changes or cancellations from Marymede Catholic College, we will communicate accordingly.
    First game will be played on Saturday 5th of February 2022. Please check PlayHQ on game time and venue.
  • With ongoing Covid effects to our community, it is likely that game byes (due to players in isolation) and referee shortages will occur and may disrupt your game day. The same will apply to our training facility at Marymede Catholic College. 

  • WCBA & DVBA current restrictions and recommendations 

  • Face Masks -All patrons over the age of 8 who are not actively engaged in an exertive role on court – whether as a player, coach or official, are required to wear a mask at all times indoors (unless they possess a valid medical exemption). 

  • Spectators- Limit spectators as much as possible (one person per player is recommended). Simply put, the more people in a venue, the higher the risk of transmission. If possible, remain in foyer areas outside of the playing courts of a venue until the preceding game has completed and all have left the court area. Once a game has been completed, ideally participants leave the venue as soon as possible to ensure the absolute minimum number of people are within the venue at any one time. 

  • Showing Vaccination -Basketball Victoria can confirm that all participants aged under 18 years will no longer have to show proof of their vaccination status to enter indoor basketball venues within Victoria
  • STAY AT HOME- If you are unwell or have symptoms
